New Year’s Rez

What’s your New Year’s Resolution? Are you carrying baggage into 2019? Maybe your New Year’s Resolution should be to deal with and take out the “trash”. Ephesians 4:22-24: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self which is being corrupted by it’s deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”  I concede that 2018 has been a most difficult year for me; it’s been difficult for many of my family and friends. But I will tell you that wishing for the days to pass, isn’t a constructive thing to do. Every day, we are blessed with something. We are going to have hard days, suffer great losses and be vulnerable to Satan. But those are the days that we have to put our armor on and fight to overcome those things. It’s really easy to roll over and give up. But don’t do it!!!

Psalm 16:8 says “I will not be shaken”. You must take adversity and use it to your advantage. It’s natural to be hurt and even act out when things don’t go your way. Surround yourself with people that display love but do not enable bad behavior. It’s easy to gravitate to those that welcome negative conversations and are sympathetic even if you are in the wrong. Initially, it will make you feel good, but it will also allow you to loathe in self pity. You are better than that! It’s super easy to cry out “it’s not fair” or pout. But it’s far more productive to lift your own self up and rise above. Even if you know that you were treated unfairly, acknowledge it, deal with it and then forgive those that treated you unfairly. I promise you that they are not losing any sleep over it-why should you?

I am hopeful that you will come into 2019 baggage free! Bring it on!
