Which Path Will You Take

It has been a year since everyone’s world turned upside down. Since then, there has been tragedy after tragedy. I think many of us were hopeful that when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve that things would magically go back to pre-pandemic times. Nope. Not by a long shot. We continue to see tragedies day in and day out. Our country is getting more divided by the moment. People’s nerves are shot. We have been shut in so much that we do not know how to act around to others. Emotions that have been simmering under the surface are bubbling to the top and overflowing as a hot lava of negativity and rudeness. Older folks that have survived the pandemic are almost scared to go out. Their life spans have been cut short because of the year long isolation. Ugh. Many are choosing to end their lives because they cannot take it anymore. It is sad; no, it is heartbreaking.

I know I sound like a broken record. But I also know in my heart that we can change the path we are on. Not only can we change the path, but we must also do it. When was the last time that you intentionally went out of your way to do something for a stranger? When was the last time you uttered a kind word or a word of encouragement for someone? I know that many people do these things and that it is just a part of life for them. But many others wait for someone to be kind to them first. Imagine if we all were like that?? Things would be worse than they already are. You are only on this earth for a short period of time. Make the most of it! Not being kind to someone because they do not appear friendly is a missed opportunity. You do not know what that person is facing. It has been tough for everyone…but won’t you choose to be the light?
